GIJN Welcomes Eight New Members

We're proud to announce that eight organizations have joined the Global Investigative Journalism Network. This brings GIJN's membership to 118 organizations in 54 countries. Our new members include groups that support investigative reporting based in Eastern Europe (Hungary's Direkt36, Montenegro's Center for Investigative Journalism, and Ukraine's Slidstvo and Svidomo), the United States (Internews, ProPublica, and Public Herald), and Italy (DataNinja). A Global Nonprofit Media Model

Can a nonprofit model for media work around the world? Günter Bartsch of Germany's investigative reporting association looks at start-ups in Europe and worldwide and says yes, but warns that we need to think creatively about structure and work to change tax laws.

Global Conference Deadlines!

Attention journalism professors: You have until July 8 to submit abstracts to present papers at the ninth Global Investigative Journalism Conference. Also, GIJN members: You have until July 31 to send proposals to host the next Conference in 2017. Deadline will be soon, on July 31.
