A World of Muckrakers

Didn't get to last month's Global Investigative Journalism Conference? Still a chance to network this year, as muckrakers gather at four big regional conferences. Today kicks off the First Caribbean Meeting for Investigative Journalists in Puerto Rico. Next: Power Reporting, Africa's largest gathering of investigative journalists, Nov. 9 in Johannesburg. On Nov. 20: COLPIN, Latin America's Investigative Journalism Conference in Lima. And ARIJ hosts its annual Forum for Arab Investigative Reporters starting Dec. 4 in Amman. We've listed a dozen more key dates for 2016 on our calendar. Don't see your event? Email us and we'll add it.

More GIJC15 Resources

The Global Investigative Journalism Conference may have ended, but we've kept updating the #GIJC15 site with free resources. All the sessions that were streamed during the event are now online and you can watch them here. There are now more than 40 tipsheets and presentations, plus new stories and sessions recaps.

International Day to End Impunity

GIJN marked International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists by posting resources on media security, and with an excerpt from UNESCO’s new report on world trends In freedom of expression. The report adds another important voice calling for stronger measures to protect our sources.

Internet Freedom Declines

Freedom on the Net 2015, released last week by Freedom House, makes for a sobering read. Internet freedom declined for a fifth year as more governments censored information while expanding surveillance and cracking down on privacy tools. Time for more training on encryption and security!
