GIJN Welcomes Seven New Members

The GIJN Board of Directors has admitted seven new member organizations from six countries to the Global IJ Network. We're especially pleased to include representation for the first time from Ireland and Malawi. The new groups bring GIJN’s global membership to 145 groups in 62 countries. Please join us in welcoming: the Centre for Investigative Journalism Malawi; Mary Raftery Journalism Fund (Ireland); MuckRock (U.S.); NGSCO “TOM 14” (Ukraine); Oorvani Foundation (India); Pod črto (Slovenia); and Stop Corruption (Ukraine). Membership is open to nonprofits that work in support of investigative journalism.

Support Global Muckraking

Now, more than ever, the world needs investigative journalists. And they need us. Please consider a year-end gift to GIJN so that we can support and empower fearless truth-tellers around the world. (US taxpayers -- your gift is tax-deductible.) Click here to donate.

Send Your "Out of the Box" Ideas

As GIJN grows to 145 members, we're finding many unique methods are being used to increase revenue, expand outreach, and support reporting. Brazil's Casa Pública runs a meeting place for journalists while Nigeria's Wole Soyinka Centre honors investigative cartooning. Are you a GIJN member with an "out of the box" project? Write us: we'd love to hear about it for a story we're writing.

David Donald: A Remembrance

With our colleagues worldwide, GIJN shared great sadness at the passing of David Donald, a much-treasured teacher in our community. David died on December 10 after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 64. We asked his longtime friend, GIJN Board Chair Brant Houston, to write this remembrance: "David Donald was truly a great teacher. Not only of how to use data in journalism, but of how to conduct oneself with kindness, grace, humor, and civility in the often rough and irascible world of journalism."
