With support from VOICE, we carried-out community engagement across the six area councils in the FCT, engaging community gatekeepers to gauge their understanding, interests and current levels of engagement with public officials on public procurement.

During our visits, we interacted with district heads and key leaders in Apiwoyi (Bwari),  Abaji, Ijah-pada community (Kwali), Karon-majigi (AMAC), Yimi District, (Gwagwalada), and Buzunkure community (Kuje). They lamented about the terrible state of their PHCs, public schools and poor security. In response, our team sensitized them on strategies to effectively engage their representatives to get better services. 

Our team conducted FOI Training at the Centre for Management Development (CMD), Abuja.

Carrying out training for public institutions on the FOI Act remains one of the major approaches we take to encourage consistent adherence to the act upon receipt of requests.

Engagement in Adamawa to Guarantee Project Fixes

The beautiful city of Adamawa state hosted the PPDC team for 4 days. The goal was to sensitize CSOs and citizens in rural communities on contract/project monitoring of public projects. 

We visited Numan and Gombi LGAs of the state to discuss and identify issues and challenges faced in their respective communities. In attendance were traditional rulers, government officials, people living with disabilities, community members, school principals and primary healthcare centre practitioners.

Consequently, they were stirred to act and arranged for a final engagement where they had candid discussions with project implementers who in turn pledged to long term fixes of the identified projects.

Intensive Online Safety Training for Teachers in the FCT

The Digital Inclusion and Safer Internet (DISI) program of PPDC organized online safety training for Teachers in the FCT. This was to ensure effective delivery in classrooms thereby enabling every Nigerian child to gain direct access to Digital safety knowledge. Over 200 Teachers from 10 schools benefited from the training.

The training is an offshoot of the Online safety curriculum co-developed by our team and approved by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council in 2019.

The online safety teachers and students/pupils training is absolutely for FREE!
