For the past three years, the Luminate group has believed in us and have been a staunch supporter of our efforts to increase citizen participation in governance processes. It was an honour to host the team and to discuss our success , impact, and future plans.

In a bid to improve Data protection and Privacy in Nigeria, The Nigeria Data Protection Bureau  inaugurated  PPDC as a  steering committee member to build a strategic roadmap on data protection in Nigeria.

As we are committed to safeguarding citizens' personal information, this remarkable feat will enable PPDC to ensure that measures are put in place to secure data protection and privacy.

Journalists and CSOs Get In-depth Training on Data Journalism

At PPDC, we pride ourselves on our training and capacity-building workshops. In this vein, we recently hosted a two-day course on budget and procurement processes with CSOs and journalists in the FCT.

Conversations on how to effectively track public procurement, the benefits of open contracting in Nigeria, and in-depth training on data journalism and contract monitoring for journalists were among the topics covered during the sessions.

PPDC Participates in the Regional Consultation on the State of Social Accountability in West Africa Webinar

Onyekachi Chukwu, our Senior Program Manager, spoke live on the Regional Consultation on the State of Social Accountability in West Africa webinar about the state of social accountability in West Africa and how it affects regional development.

One of his main points was that all citizens must take responsibility for project monitoring, which will eventually lead to improved service delivery.

The city of Jos welcomed a seasoned and knowledgeable team from PPDC, and we met with representatives from the state's pilot MDAs such as the Ministry of Works, Education, Health, and Agriculture to discuss their commitment to gathering procurement data and challenges encountered since the implementation and launch of the E-Procurement portal. 

We also went to the plateau state Bureau of Public Procurement to meet with the DG and his team to go over the state's E-procurement and Open Contracting portal. 

Following the visits, we held an Open Contracting workshop for both the government and CSOs in plateau state to improve their capacity in utilizing the Open Government Partnership commitments to improve transparency and accountability.
