Hi *|FNAME|,

Autumn 🍂 is a wonderful reminder that sometimes we need to shed to grow, and it can be a beautiful process.

Today (1 March) is self injury awareness day. If this is impacting you or anyone you know, today we take extra care, to pause, and to listen.

Research by the Australian Institute of Family Studies, 2017, found that 10 per cent of 14-15 year-olds reported that they had self-harmed in the previous 12 months, and 5 per cent had attempted suicide.

Living with an adolescent who is or has self harmed can be overwhelming. We are hardwired to protect our children. How are we meant to protect them from themselves?

This is a time when self-care is crucial. Having the courage and strength to simply cope at a time of crisis might be the best defense you can have.

EPIC aims to support you to build the confidence needed to empower you to better help your teen. Lean on us. Talk with us. Join our walks. Connect with us on Facebook page or via email. We are a supportive, non-judgmental community that has similar challenges as you.

Beyond Blue has a helpful article defining self harm, suggesting causes and offering self harm replacement strategies. Please use this link to access the article: https://www.beyondblue.org.au/the-facts/suicide-prevention/feeling-suicidal/self-harm-and-self-injury

Come and join the EPIC community at the Waverton walk/talk/coffee on Saturday 12 March. It’s a 3km loop and there’s a coffee stop enroute! Dogs welcome. Details are below or via this link.

Read the ‘Heavy Weight of Judgement’ blog linked below. You won’t regret it! We’d love to hear your thoughts and comments on this emotional topic.

We look forward to seeing you in our community soon.
