The protest organised by End Our Cladding Scandal (EOCS) and backed by the Leasehold Knowledge Partnership took place against the backdrop of a parliament rushing to get the Building Safety Bill, the government’s flagship legislative response to apartment and high-rise safety post-Grenfell, onto the statute books before the Queen’s Speech on May 10, when plans for a landmark leasehold and commonhold reform bill are expected to be announced, alongside a slew of other proposed laws as prime minister Boris Johnson tries shoring up his position with a reset of his domestic agenda.
