10,500 leaseholders to benefit, not just the 5,400 in Taylor Wimpey’s own scheme
The Competition and Markets Authority has today forced Taylor Wimpey to remove its rip-off ten-year doubling ground rent terms – and junk its “ground rent review scheme” which simply continued the ground rents but rising with RPI instead.
“Affected leaseholders’ ground rents will no longer increase and will remain at the amount charged when they first bought their home,” says the CMA.
In another blow to controversial property manager Richard Davidoff, of ABC Estates, the Institute of Residential Property Managers (IRPM) has decided to expel him.
The decision was taken on 17 December and follows expulsion of Mr Davidoff from the Association of Residential Managing Agents last November.
In addition, the IRPM is investigating the conduct of Mark Reed, head of block management at ABC Estates.
Both expulsions follow a property tribunal ruling last August where Mr Davidoff was found to have ‘breached his fiduciary duties’ after a disastrous performance as a section 24, court-appointed manager at a site in South London.
Two ex-employees of controversial managing agent Richard Davidoff who posted critical Google reviews with fake names of the services of ABC Estates have failed to block efforts to sue them for defamation.
LKP is informed that they may already be looking at costs against them of £36,000, with more to come if the libel action comes to court and they are again unsuccessful (see costs order application below).
Dhir Doshi and Thomas Govan, formerly in paid employment with ABC Estates, had applied to the high court for the libel case to be thrown out.
