The Molecular Biology and Pathogenesis of Avian Viruses Focused Meeting took place between 3–4 September in Oxford. In this email we share some of the highlights of the event.

New vaccine developed for infectious laryngotracheitis 

A new vaccine has been developed for an important chicken disease. Infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT) is caused by virus that targets the respiratory system of chickens. Learn more here

Emerging retrovirus 'major threat' to domestic pigeon populations

A new virus has been causing disease outbreaks in domestic pigeons in Europe. Professor Dennis Rubbenstroth from the University of Freiburg identified the virus as a Group A retrovirus (RVA). Learn more here
