Aesthetics, Inc. Call to Artists: New England Hospital System
Aesthetics, Inc. is currently selecting artwork for a large multi-hospital system in New England. To that end, Aesthetics, Inc. is compiling a catalog of eligible artists living or working in New England, with an emphasis on Suffolk County, Massachusetts.

Call for Entries: Wharton Esherick Museum 28th Annual Juried Woodworking Exhibition
The Wharton Esherick Museum is holding its 28th Annual Juried Woodworking Exhibition. A group of works from the final jury selection will be exhibited in the Museum’s visitor center gallery.
Deadline: February 4, 2022

3S Artspace in Portsmouth, NH, invites submissions from contemporary artists for the upcoming 2022/23 Gallery seasons. Artists selected for an exhibition will be offered a 6-12 week exhibit during the
2022 or 2023 calendar year.

The Maine Arts Commission is issuing a Request for Proposals to design, create and install artwork in the new Edward Little High School in Auburn, ME with a budget of approximately $44,500.

Buoy Gallery in Kittery, ME is accepting submissions for their annual ARTPM salon style exhibition. One piece per artist will be accepted.
Deadline: Artists must drop off artwork on February 28 or March 1, 2022

Watch This Space: Expressions of Queer Ecology by Maine College of Art & Design Alumni is a juried exhibition featuring two-dimensional and three-dimensional works by six MECA&D alumni centered on themes of queer ecology. The exhibition will be on view from Friday, June 3, to Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Historic New England’s Sarah Orne Jewett House Museum in South Berwick, Maine. The exhibition is a collaboration between Historic New England and Maine College of Art & Design.

Sculpture Boothbay is pleased to announce an open call for artists to submit proposals for artwork to be included on the Boothbay Region Sculpture Trail for the 2022 season. Artists selected will receive a $200 honorarium and support with siting and installation.

The Illustration Institute and the Brick Store Museum announce a call for art from published or otherwise produced works by professional illustrators. Each artist in the exhibition will provide original art, a copy of the published work and the narrative that the art illustrates. Unpublished art will be considered (but not prioritized) if the illustration is presented with a strong narrative. Email nancy@illustrationinstitute.org for more information.

New Ventures Maine: Workshops and Classes
New Ventures Maine is offering a variety of workshops and classes for artists, including Introduction to Self Employment and Pricing Strategies.

The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry's Bureau of Parks and Lands (BPL) Visiting Artist Program encourages artists to develop their art through experiencing the wilderness of the state's most remote park, the Allagash Wilderness Waterway (AWW). The Visiting Artist Program application period runs through February 28, and artists are encouraged to learn more and apply now

Residencies
Pace House Residency
Artist Stephen Pace and his wife, Palmina, gave their home and studio overlooking Stonington Harbor to Maine College of Art & Design in 2007 to be used as an artist residency and gallery. We are pleased to be able to offer Maine College of Art & Design degree-holding alumni, faculty, and staff family friendly residency opportunities during the spring, summer, and fall months at the Pace House. Stipends of $750 will be awarded to mid-career artists at the discretion of the jury.

Alumni Residency at MECA&D
The Alumni Residency at MECA&D is designed to bring a small group of alumni back to Maine and the MECA&D studios for four weeks in July. The artists engage in intensive on-campus experiences while renewing ties to the College.

Monhegan Artist Residency
The Monhegan Artists’ Residency supports the creative growth of dedicated Maine artists by providing them time and space in which to work free of interruption and constraint in the inspiring environment of Monhegan Island.

NXTHVN Open Call for Studio and Curatorial Fellows
NXTHVN is pleased to announce the opening of its annual open call for Studio and Curatorial Fellows. NXTHVN welcomes up to seven artists and two curators to participate in its paid 10-month intensive Fellowship Program. Each fellow will receive studio or office space, a stipend, and subsidized housing.

Indigo Arts Alliance Black Seed Studio // David C. Driskell Fellowship
A foundational aspect of Indigo Arts Alliance’s mission is to amplify and empower Black and Brown artists who enrich our local community. The goal of the David C. Driskell Fellowship Program is to identify talented Maine based artists whose work is of excellent artistic merit and is open to all artistic career stages. Includes rent free studio space and $500.

Tidal Shift Award
The Tidal Shift Award is a juried prize that seeks to recognize the emerging young artists who are facing our climate crisis head on. Cash prizes are $2,500 or $5,000 and submissions are open to New England artists ages 14-22.

Belvedere Fund Grant
Alumni who work within a crafts methodology, hold a BFA degree, and have graduated within the last 10 years are eligible to apply. Grants of up to $1,500 per person will be awarded through a competitive review process.
Deadline: February 28, 2022

Sustainable Arts Foundation 2022 Awards
The Sustainable Arts Foundation will make awards of $5,000 each to twenty artists and writers with children.
Deadline: February 25, 2022

Jorge and Darlene Pérez Prize in Public Art & Civic Design
The Jorge and Darlene Pérez Prize in Public Art & Civic Design celebrates and highlights the work of individuals who support, develop, and manage the incorporation of art into the design of places and spaces across the United States.

Jefferson Coniaris '08 is exhibiting illustrations at UNE's Biddeford Campus Center.

Jordan Carey '19, Madison Poitrast-Upton '20, Rachel Adams '15 and Amelia Garretson-Persans MFA '16 (Adjunct Professor in Animation & Game Art) received $5,000 Kindling Fund grants for their public art initiatives. Program Chair of Printmaking and MFA Professor Adriane Herman served as one of this year's jurors.

Hannah Bevens MFA '21 is the recipient of a fall/winter residency at the Ellis Beauregard Foundation in Rockland, ME

Anna Valenti MFA '20 was hired as the Ceramics Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Fine Arts + Foundations at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design in Denver, CO.

Michel Droge MFA '10 will be a visiting artist at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, researching the ecosystems of the deep sea, and will have work in several upcoming exhibitions:

Poetics of Process
The 2022 Maine College of Art & Design Alumni Triennial is on view from January 28 to March 15.

The Charlie Thomas Gallery at MECA&D

Savanna Pettengill '14 has work in the Charles C. Thomas Gallery. The exhibition is titled RETURNS, and many of the pieces were made during Savanna's time at the Alumni Residency at MECA&D in 2019.

The Charles C. Thomas Gallery is located on the second floor of the Porteous Building in the hallway that leads to the Administrative offices. The exhibition will be up through the beginning of March. 

Founded in 1882 and located in the heart of Downtown Portland's thriving Arts District, MECA&D offers BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in 11 studio majors, MFA (Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art), and MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) degrees, as well as the Salt Graduate Certificate in Documentary Studies. Pre-College and Continuing Studies programming are available for adults and youths.

Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) at MECA&D is free and open to the public.
