More asymptomatic test centres open in Kent

A further five rapid result Coronavirus testing centres for people who don’t have symptoms have opened in Kent last , including one in Sevenoaks, and five more are set to open next week.
The test centres will help to find people who don’t currently have symptoms and who may be unknowingly spreading the virus in the community.
These 10 new centres join the 14 already in operation to help reduce the rates of transmission in Kent.

'Jab' opportunites

Our local NHS Trust has a number of job opportunities to help with the vaccination programme.
Many roles are available from registered and retired healthcare professionals through to administration support staff and cleaners.

Vaccination programme gets a shot in the arm

The NHS vaccine programme is stepping up with more than four million people having already received the first dose of the vaccine in England. Now people aged 70 plus are eligible for the jab.
Local vaccination centres have been set up in the District to speed up the programme.
You will be contacted when your vaccine is ready. If you have concerns about how to get to your appointment, you will be able to raise the issue with the NHS at the time.

Animations stress the importance of sticking to the rules

Public Health England has released new social media animations to encourage the public to stay at home and, if they must to go out, how to stay safe.
Each animation is just a few seconds long, but convey important messages about reducing the spread of the virus.

Latest local COVID-19 data

The latest data we have from the Government and Public Health England is dated 14 January.
The data shows that the growth rate is slowing down in all districts in Kent.
The case rate in the Sevenoaks District to 14 January was 440.6 per 100,000, down from 644.3 on 7 January. This is below the England rate of 504.5, which is also down from 625.9 per 100,000.
There were 824 active cases in the District at 14 January, down significantly from 1,322 active cases at 7 January. These are associated with clusters in residential dwellings and care settings.

COVID vaccination scam alert

We are aware that some people are receiving suspicious calls and text messages offering the COVID-19 vaccination.
Coronavirus vaccines are only available on the NHS. You can be contacted by the NHS, your employer, or a GP surgery local to you, to receive your vaccine. Remember, the vaccine is free of charge. At no point will you be asked to pay.

The NHS will never ask you for your bank account or card details
The NHS will never ask you for your PIN or banking password
The NHS will never arrive unannounced at your home to administer the vaccine
The NHS will never ask you to prove your identity by sending copies of personal documents such as your passport, driving licence, bills or pay slips.

If you receive a call you believe to be fraudulent, hang up. If you believe you have been the victim of fraud or identity theft you should report this directly to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040. Where the victim is vulnerable, report it to Kent Police online or phone 101.
