Statewide National Historic Preservation Act Celebration Coming Up
BISMARCK – To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act, the State Historical Society of North Dakota is partnering with 25 communities across the state to celebrate their local history and cultural resources from June 17 to 19. Nearly 30 organizations will be hosting 49 programs, presentations, or tours highlighting history in their communities. Information about these public celebrations can be found at history.nd.gov/50thNHPA.
Two exhibits are also on display at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck about the National Historic Preservation Act and the National Register of Historic Places. A fully digital version of the National Register of Historic Places exhibit is also being hosted by 11 museums affiliated with the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Those museums are:
Barnes County Historical Society, Valley City
Pioneer Trails Regional Museum, Bowman
Divide County Historical Society, Crosby
Eddy County Museum & Historical Society, New Rockford
Emmons County Historical Society, Linton
Pioneer Museum/McKenzie County Museum, Watford City
Pembina County Historical Society, near Cavalier
Geographical Center Historical Society, Rugby
Ransom County Historical Society, Fort Ransom
Stark County Historical Society, Dickinson
Towner County Historical Society, Egeland
