The North Star Dakotan, Issue 6, Now Available Online
BISMARCK, N.D. – A new issue of “The North Star Dakotan” is available to the public at ndstudies.gov. Coordinated by the North Dakota Studies program of the State Historical Society of North Dakota, the new issue no. 6 and five previous issues and accompanying teacher guides serve as excellent history resources for classrooms and interested readers of the state’s history.
The new issue covers select topics from 1972 to the present including energy development, agriculture, the flood of 1997, and additional important happenings that influenced the state.
The first issue of “The North Star Dakotan,” released in November 1993, was considered the “newest thing in state history books – a first in the nation endeavor.” The first five issues cover North Dakota history from 1780 to 1972. D. Jerome Tweton, professor emeritus of history at the University of North Dakota, was chief author of the first five issues.
All six issues of the publication have been funded by the North Dakota Humanities Council. For more information, visit ndstudies.gov or contact Neil Howe, ND Studies program coordinator, at 701.205.7802.
