"Shaking Up Shakespeare" Teacher Workshop at ND Heritage Center & State Museum
BISMARCK—The State Historical Society of North Dakota is offering a "Shaking Up Shakespeare" teacher in-service workshop on July 16 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This workshop is held in conjunction with the "First Folio! The Book That Gave Us Shakespeare" exhibit on tour from the Folger Shakespeare Library, which will be featured at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck from July 6 to July 31, 2016.
The workshop comprises one required intensive day on July 16 coupled with a variety of electives that will allow participants to complete the necessary hours for one Continuing Education Credit (CEC). The workshop will provide useful experiences related to theater, production, instruction of Shakespeare and historic language, and early book publication processes, as well as cover dialogue related to popular culture in the 17th and 21st centuries. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to engage with professional costume designers, actors, stage designers, set builders, historians, and theater professors. They will also learn how to incorporate activities developed by professional museum educators at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C.
This teacher workshop has been recognized as a Continuing Education Unit (CEU) by North Dakota State University, Minot State University, and the University of North Dakota. To register and for more details, visit bit.ly/bardws. Lunch is included with registration.
This workshop is part of the State Historical Society of North Dakota's "Shaking Up Shakespeare" festival in July, presented in collaboration with Capitol Shakespeare.
