Watermelon and Music Featured July 4 at Former Governors' Mansion State Historic Site

BISMARCK - The Former Governors’ Mansion State Historic Site is hosting “Watermelon and American Folk Songs” on July 4. Located on the corner of Fourth Street and East Avenue B, Bismarck, the Mansion will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on July 4, with free slices of watermelon available from 1 p.m. until closing.

At 3 p.m. visitors are invited to join a sing-along on the front porch featuring American folk songs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when the Mansion was built and inhabited by North Dakota governors and their families. Visitors are encouraged to bring acoustic instruments. This free event is open to all ages.

The Former Governors’ Mansion is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Summer hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, noon-4 p.m. For more information about the Former Governors’ Mansion contact 701.328.9528.
