This year was Singapore’s Jubilee year. 50 years of independence and 365 days of celebrations made for a busy time on this island ITI calls home.

For ITI, it was a year filled by:
  • Final-year performances before 5am and after midnight
  • 28 students - from as far up North as Norway, to down South in Australia - packed into our studio for classes
  • Over 50 visitors who got to know ITI a little better - from Idieri conference delegates to Thomas Richards of the Grotowski Workcenter
  • Endorsements from the public sector - our 3-year Major Grant award from the National Arts Council and the 4-year EduTrust endorsement from the Council for Private Education
  • A small but growing circle of individual supporters, corporate donors and philanthropic funders - who give us all courage to continue the intercultural dream
  • News of creative work by recent graduates - acting in Singapore TV’s long-form drama, Tanglin; storytelling at the Singapore Writers Festival; in dramatised readings in the Esplanade’s Studios Fifty programme; co-founding theatre company Cage Compagnie in Paris; conducting drama workshops for children and actors in The Philippines; touring Karnatak, India with over 70 shows; and performing in the Nyoba Kan Butoh Festival (Malaysia), Shanghai International Contemporary Theatre Festival, Fringe Manila Festival and more.
2016 promises more of the same - yet also, of something quite different. The push to:
  • Provide professional actor training to those serious and sure of their work in the cultural sphere
  • Engage with communities from the arts, the civic sector, and the social ground
  • Build support for ITI's unique vision - with giving to the arts
With your support, our alumni will continue to be recognised throughout the world for their impact, and our connections across countries and cultures will only continue to grow.
Happy Holidays, till we meet again in 2016.
