From the Principal's Desk

The holiday season is upon us and so the frenzy begins.  One of the most important things that parents can teach their children is to have a grateful heart.   Gratitude means counting your blessings:  families, friends, food to eat and a home to live in.  Research shows that we can increase our happiness and decrease our stress by expressing our gratitude daily.

So during this season I encourage you to focus on the blessings you have in your life daily, discuss these at the family dinner table, in the car on your way to school.   You and your child’s life will be enriched in so many ways by developing a grateful heart.

As I count the many blessings God has given me, I include my Notre Dame family and all of the friends who support our ministry now and throughout the year.  I wish each of you a blessed holiday filled with the joy, love and hope of the season.

An Affair of the Heart 2014 was a smashing success made possible by the contributions of so many working hands!  From our parent volunteers who did lots of heavy-lifting, to our guests who contributed financially, the culmination is a beautiful evening that encapsulates the spirit of the Notre Dame School of Dallas.

Sister Maureen led the children in melodious harmony to "God Bless the USA" and guests enjoyed watching them as they waltzed to "Edelweiss".   Thank you Sister Maureen for coordinating a beautiful performance.  We know it was a labor of love!

We would like to thank our Honorary Chairpersons, Mitch and Cindy Bell (below left), for their contributions and efforts in our event.  And a big thanks to Shannon Tyler (below right), our Event Chair, for representing our NDS parents.

Tuesday Morning showered us with fabulous merchandise for our Silent Auction.  The proceeds from the sale of these items totaled over $20,000.   Highlights of the Live Auction included a week's stay at the Bell's beautiful cottage in Nantucket, trips to DisneyWorld and New York and a even a dove hunt in Argentina.  But the biggest winners were our students who will benefit from scholarship donations totaling more than $200,000!  We are so grateful for our generous donors!

Many of you know that we depend on the proceeds of this auction for the operating budget of our school.  This year's totals are almost $400,000, and for that we give thanks!

Did you know that Nancy Wiley, Bridges Assistant, has been at Notre Dame School for 37 years?  She is our Girl Scout Leader,  Cheerleading sponsor and Yearbook sponsor.  If you have any questions about the history of Notre Dame School –she is your go-to person!

Thank you for remembering Notre Dame School of Dallas in your END OF YEAR GIVING!
