From the Principal's Desk

As we welcomed students back in January, staff and students began making preparations for Catholic Schools Week.  It is always enjoyable to open our doors to visitors and current family members.  The work we do here at Notre Dame School is a labor of love and the rewards are seen through the students every day.

I think the parents’ appreciation of our school says it the best.

“Thank you so much for giving (our daughter) the opportunity to attend NDS.  She has come such a long way since public school.  Her skills, self confidence and behavior have drastically improved and the staff’s patience and understanding during this transition period have been greatly appreciated.” – Intermediate Parent

“The Bridges Program was an answer to prayer and a healing time for us.  It was a much needed time and place to escape the world where everything was labeled unacceptable or inappropriate. We feel like we fell into loving arms.  Thank you for being a wonderful advocate for our children.” – Bridges Parent

We strive every day to educate our students and work to facilitate their integration into society. From the proper greeting of a stranger to our vocational training and community-based instructional programs, these students are valued in our school and we work every day to challenge them to become contributing members in their communities.

Opening our Doors and Hearts for Catholic Schools Week
Students and parents gathered at the Notre Dame School of Dallas to celebrate Catholic Schools Week, January 26 - 30.  Classroom doors were brightly decorated, student work prominently displayed as the staff at Notre Dame School welcomed a steady stream of parents and grandparents.

The week was sprinkled with various activities to engage family members, students and staff.  From the teacher appreciation luncheon, to pastries with parents, the halls were busy with visitors.  The annual book fair benefitted from the traffic as well because every child loves a new book!

Another highlight of the week is the Notre Dame School Open House for Prospective Parents.  This year, more than 20 families walked through the halls of our school and witnessed the unique learning environment that makes Notre Dame the hallmark of special education in Dallas.  “We love to showcase our school and welcome visitors any time.  It’s hard to explain the amazing environment here at Notre Dame School.  You just have to experience it,” says Theresa Francis, Principal.
