Please see the below information about the COVID-19 vaccine. 

 

Who can get the Vaccine?

Right now, members of the following priority groups can pre-register for a COVID-19 vaccination appointment.

  • Adult recipients of chronic home care
  • Adults 70 years of age and older
  • Health care workers (all categories)
  • Indigenous adults (incl. individuals and elders regardless of status or Indigenous identity and their immediate household members)
  • Long-term care and retirement homes staff 
  • Long-term care and retirement homes essential caregivers
  • Seniors group settings staff and residents
  • Seniors group setting essential caregivers

 

How to get a COVID-19 vaccination appointment

Step 1: Pre-registration

  • You can pre-register for yourself or on behalf of someone in one of the priority groups. Visit the COVID-19 Vaccination Pre-Registration page to learn more or to pre-register. 
  • If you prefer to talk to a real person to pre-register, call 519-575-4400. You can choose from over 200 languages, any day of the week, at any time. 

Note: Pre-registration does not mean you will be contacted to book an appointment immediately. When the vaccine is available for your priority group, you will be contacted. 

 

Step 2: Appointment booking

  • After pre-registering, you will be sent information to book your vaccination appointment
  • This information will be sent by email, phone, or text depending on your choice in pre-registration. Please ensure you check your JUNK/SPAM folder in your email regularly.

 

Clinic Locations

Individuals who have an appointment will be vaccinated at Grand River Hospital Clinic or the Boardwalk Clinic.

  • Grand River Hospital Clinic - 40 Green Street, Kitchener
  • The Boardwalk Clinic - 435 The Boardwalk, Waterloo, Media Centre 2  
  • Langs Main Site and Community Health Centre Vaccination Clinic (Opening March 12) - 1145 Concession Road, Cambridge  
  • Health Sciences Campus Kitchener (Opening March 15) - Health Sciences Campus, 10 Victoria Street South in Kitchener  
  • Cambridge Pinebush Vaccination Clinic (Opening March 22) - 66 Pinebush Road, Cambridge

Getting to your vaccination appointment

  • Many sites are accessible by Grand River transit, visit GRT for current route information.
  • If you are driving to your vaccination appointment you will find parking at most clinic sites, all parking information can be found at COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics in Waterloo Region 

 

What to Expect at your appointment

Please bring identification on the day of your appointment. Clinic team members need this information to confirm you are part of an eligible priority group. For occupational groups like healthcare workers, this can be a workplace identification badge, proof of employment, or a letter from your employer. What can I do while I wait my turn? 

  • Avoid gatherings with people that live outside your home. 
  • Limit trips outside your home (groceries, medical appointments, work). 
  • Stay 2 metres away from people you do not live with. 
  • Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth. 
  • Wash your hands often with warm water and soap or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. 
  • Avoid indoor spaces and crowded places. 
  • Stay home when you are sick and isolate yourself from others in your house.
  • If you have symptoms, make an appointment to be tested.
