Opinion Poll Results delivered to the DNR!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Opinion Poll concerning a proposed DNR boat ramp somewhere on Douglas Lake.  The DNR asked how the association stands, and we shared the Opinion Poll result along with a vote from our board with the DNR.  The results are:

Are you in favor of the DNR purchasing property on Douglas Lake, and constructing a new boat launch facility?  The location cannot be where the current boat ramp is by the DLB.
Yes - 10%,  No - 71%,  Maybe - 19%

Would you be in favor of a DNR boat launch similar to the one at Lancaster Lake next to your property?
Yes - 3%,  No - 92%,  Maybe - 5%

The DLIA Board voted against building a new DNR boat launch facility on Douglas Lake at a location other than at the end of Douglas Lake Road.

Internet Service from RACC pending
Several folks have inquired about the difference between the proposed RACC internet service and the internet obtained with a Verizon hotspot. While it is difficult to compare, Rick Bacon of RACC Enterprises, LLC provides some answers based on "usage."

We currently have 9 potential subscribers for the RACC service, and need 11 to 16 more. Once there are 20 to 25 serious potential subscribers, RACC will continue to work with the University of Michigan to utilize the UMBS tower, which will provide wireless broadband internet access service in our area.

Contact Joan Hartwig at joan.e.hartwig@gmail.com by August 1st to be put on the list of serious subscribers.
