What a beautiful shoreline!

Some of us are fortunate enough to have a home on the lake.  Along with that ownership comes stewardship of our surroundings.  We take care of our septic systems, landscaping, and shorelines, and we are always seeking new opportunities to learn how to be a better steward. (more information)

There's a publication available called Natural Shoreline Landscapes on Michigan's Inland Lake, Guidebook for Property Owners. It is available through the Michigan State University Extension Bookstore, bulletin E-3145, $25.  There are 3 copies available right here at Douglas Lake for $15.  Request your copy by emailing douglaslake2012@yahoo.com.

Thank you to everyone who has participated in the Opinion Poll concerning a proposed DNR boat ramp somewhere on Douglas Lake. The Tip of the Mitt sent their response to the dredging question (Q&A 16), and it has been added to the document.  The document will continue to be updated as we receive new information and is available on the Home Page of our website.  The results of the Opinion Poll will be tallied after 7/7/2014.

Hi all you happy boaters!

The 3rd annual Douglas Lake Boat Parade will be held on Friday, July 4 starting at 1 pm. The theme is "Fourth of July".  Be creative and have fun with your boat decorations.

The boats will assemble on the west side of Pell's Island at the south end by the pass-through. The boats will follow the shoreline of Maple Bay, Silver Strand, Ingleside and Nuttings Bay and then cut across to the east side of Pell's Island and circle twice around the bay in front of the Douglas Lake Steakhouse.

DLB staff will judge the boats and award the first three winners prizes. Like last year, the DLB will be providing hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks at a nominal price. Registration for each boat is $25.00 and is being collected by Kathy Buchweitz.  She will give you a number which you need to display prominently on your boat while passing the DLB. The recipient of this year's boat parade proceeds is Angel Ambassadors. Angel Ambassadors is a local charity providing monetary, physical and emotional support to local veterans. The boat parade is a lot of fun and the money collected is going to a very worthy cause.

Come join in the fun!
