Northeast Trail Construction
Georgia Power gets started on trail construction between Ansley Mall and the Buford-Spring Connector
Now that Georgia Power has installed new utility poles and completed line work in the northeast corridor, they are kicking off construction on a segment of the Northeast Trail between Ansley Mall and the Buford-Spring Connector. Georgia Power will be paving the Atlanta BeltLine mutli-use trail, which will include the 14-foot wide trail, an access point at Montgomery Ferry Drive, stormwater systems, retaining walls, and initial landscaping. This work is expected to be complete by fall 2020.
Once Georgia Power has completed their work and Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. has identified funding, ABI will do follow-on work between Westminster Drive and Mayson Street to complete the full trail buildout. This will include the addition of lighting, security cameras, landscaping, and connections to Westminster Avenue, Piedmont Avenue, and Mayson Street. For your safety, and to avoid disruption and delay to construction, please stay out of the corridor while work is underway.
Community members are invited to attend a Northeast and Southeast Study Group public meeting
on October 24 to discuss Eastside Trail lighting along with interim improvements to Bill Kennedy Way and construction on the Northeast Trail. Eastside Trail construction updates will be posted at www.beltline.org/eastsidetrail
