SON alumna named Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Woman of the Year in Virginia

Jenn Brigle (B.S.’14/N), a pediatric oncology nurse at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, was named the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Woman of the Year in Virginia after raising more than $67,000 for the organization this past year.

A new use for your IRA

Consider making a difference with an IRA charitable rollover. This option allows you to transfer funds directly from your IRA to the MCV Foundation to support the School of Nursing, offering tax benefits in return. Individuals 70½ or older on the date of the gift are eligible to transfer up to $100,000 tax-free. VCU Graduate School spotlights School of Nursing alumnus Robert Powell, D.N.P. (D.N.P.’18/N)

A recent graduate of the Doctor of Nursing practice program, Powell speaks about his experience in the program and what brought him to the field of nursing. He offers this advice to current or prospective graduate students: “Do not simply focus on the destination. Take advantage of the journey and what it offers.”

Join us for “Innovation in the New Economy: Implications for Health Care” with author and entrepreneur Bill Bishop. The lecture is based on Bishop's book, “The New Economy Thinker: The Complete Guide to Your Success in the New Economy.” Lunch follows the lecture at 12:30 p.m. RSVP by Oct. 11 to langstonctr@vcu.edu.
