July's Great Date Adventure was a hit!
Roaring into the 20s With our Garden Party Volunteers

This picture is just one of many that highlight the fantastic afternoon we had together just a few weeks ago. With feathered headbands and fringe galore, and in banded fedoras and herringbone caps, couples of all ages turned out for our first-ever Roaring 20s Garden Party and Croquet Tournament. Couples had a great time together and helped support MREC as well.  A win-win for everyone.

With close to 40 couples wearing cool 20's get-up, (period dress was optional) the best-dressed couple award went to Roni and Patrick McCarthy, seated on the left in the photo.  The team from Professional Healthcare Services took the top award in the croquet tournament, narrowly defeating the Velnoskey team.  A rematch is in the works!

Music by Standard Delivery Combo kept the crowd in high spirits. When they were on break, the All Aboard Barbershop Quartet serenaded couples at tables where they dined on appetizers and dinner prepared by Blue Bistro, snowballs, snacks and scrumptious desserts.

We hope you'll mark your calendars for Saturday, June 9, 2018 because we are bringing this event back for a second round next year. Our location will be the beautiful grounds of the Carroll County Farm Museum.

A big thank you goes out to all our major event sponsors - Finch Services, Battery Warehouse, Kelly Financial Services, Velnoskey Wealth Management Group, and Professional Health Care Services as well as to all our donors who supported the event.  All proceeds benefit the essential mission of helping marriages and families thrive in our community.

A special shout out goes to Delmar Gillus, who was our man on the scene from the PRESS.   We always appreciate the joy he brings to others with his photography.

Mother-daughter relationships -  a really big deal in our
media-crazed culture

Moms, if you're looking for a unique way to strengthen your relationship with your tween daughter or daughters, we have a special event for all of you just around the corner. The Secret Keeper Girl Purple Party Tour - a national touring stage show, will be held on Saturday, August 19, from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. at Uniontown Bible Church (UBC).

Thanks to our partners at UBC, we are able to bring this powerful event back to our community once again this year.

Today’s girls face pressure their moms didn’t know until they were in high school. Secret Keeper Girl offers parents and guardians proven tools to teach their girls to embrace true beauty and biblical modesty in a world that serves up more pressure for kids than ever before.

The Purple Party Tour is a Bible-based relationship-building experience for moms and their tween daughters, ages 7-12, featuring a hair and fashion show, balloon sculptures, bouncing beach ball competitions, mother/daughter conversation time, colorful confetti cannons and more. The tour wraps up with intimate one-on-one time for every mother and daughter in the audience.
