One Went for Three Weeks and Came Back,
the Other Went for Three Months and is Still There!
oneSarah Elbing, our Sponsorship Coordinator in the U.S. and past long-term missionary with TIM, took a trip to Uganda for three weeks during the month of March. She visited our various ministry partners and children's homes. It was an information-gathering trip and a connecting-with-our-children's-home-kids trip. She came home with ideas and information on how to improve things, and also many reports on the great things she saw happening. Sarah continues to bless our ministry with her important work on our sponsorship program!
As Sarah came back to the U.S., another one of our long-term missionaries headed back to Uganda, enjoying another opportunity to spend Easter Sunday there. Marilyn Vlahos has served 4 times now as a representative of TIM. She stays with Pastor Patrick & Eva Walusimbi, and as a retired educator she lends much expertise and assistance in their Maranatha Christian Schools. Marilyn will be staying in Mityana for the next couple of months and then will be joining the 2015 TIM Team as a team member when they arrive in Uganda come June.
Below you will hear from both Sarah and Marilyn and get a glimpse into their experiences in Uganda!
From Sarah Elbing,
serving as True Impact Ministries' Sponsorship Coordinator...
"Going to Uganda for the 3rd time in a year is something I never thought would happen, but God totally did! Although each time going back is more and more familiar and feels more like 'home', God has definitely tested me and revealed to me COMPLETELY new things and showed me completely new ways in which He is working. Now as an official 'employee' of True Impact, things were definitely a little different. There were more tasks needing to be done, more research needing to be done, and more relationships needing to be made in order that True Impact can continue to thrive as a ministry in Uganda. And it’s so easy to get caught up in all of that stuff, which are all good things. But without God, they are nothing. Without love, they are nothing.
These children under True Impact know Christ. They rely on Him. They pray to Him. They trust in Him. They know Him and love Him with all that they are. And seeing their relationships with their Savior flourish and grow over the past year between 3 trips is something I will never be able to fully describe in words.
Thank you to all sponsors and supporters of True Impact. It is not by any act of my own doing that I am serving with this ministry. I’m continually in awe of what God continues to put in front of me and am just humbled to be His instrument working for this amazing organization. Your prayers and support mean the world to us!"
From Marilyn Vlahos,
serving at Maranatha Christian Schools in Mityana...
"We have just finished dinner after returning from a visit to Mityana Hospital with three pastors, Eva, Ephraim, and Martin, where we visited a brand-new mother and her precious baby boy. She has just recently become a Christian, and Golgotha is her first church home. Yesterday morning she attended church, where Pastor Martin gave the Sunday School message, and today she has a beautiful smile on her face, the kind that makes one feel good all over and share in her joy.....
Each time that I have visited my family at Maranatha, I have been totally overwhelmed by the warmth of their welcome. I’m amazed at how much progress continues to be made in every area and at how they are always able to gather and stretch their resources to help more and more people in need, even when the challenges they meet daily may appear overwhelming. Many, many thanks to True Impact Ministries for allowing me to be a part of their continuing mission in this part of our world."
