What does Black leadership look like? Showing up for our “inner-city” and immigrant and Muslim and trans and Jewish selves and all of our “othered” identities. Ride with BMC this month as we re-envision Black community.

Toward a Black and Muslim Future
This month on Third Rail, Mark and Veralyn discuss the intersections of African-American and Islamic identity, then explore the possibilities of solidarity between non-Black Muslims and non-Muslim Blacks. The conversation includes an in-studio sit-down with Naima “Queen” Muhammad of the podcast “Tea with Queen and J,” and an interview with the Arab American Association’s Aber Kawas.

No Disrespect: Anti Street Harassment Week

Tired of being told to smile?

As the weather gets warmer, it means more time outside - and more potential for unwanted and unwelcome harassment.  Join BMC's anti-street harassment working group No Disrespect, The Safe OUTside the System Collective of the Audre Lorde Project, and Culture Push for Anti-Street Harassment Week!

Come through to make art, speak up, and connect with other women, queer, trans and/or gender non-conforming people who experience street harassment. We will have screen printing, de-escalation skills sharing, and opportunities to plug in to local organizing.

Saturday, April 8 | 12 PM - 3 PM
Von King Park in Bed-Stuy (at Lafayette and Tompkins)

More info and RSVP here.

Want to get involved in our anti-street harassment work? We put on community events, do bike patrols to stop harassment, and organize male & masculine of center allies in Central Brooklyn. Email us to get connected:
