This month’s newsletter is coming to you in the midst of our annual membership drive. Thank you to those who have already responded with your enthusiastic support of our efforts to increase the scale and impact of mission investing.

We are excited about the unique role that our members play in shaping the impact investing field. For those of you who have not yet responded, I hope you will consider joining Mission Investors Exchange as a member (foundations) or affiliate member (advisors, asset managers, consultants, intermediaries). This year our members will engage in more of the actionable and practitioner-focused programming and networking opportunities for which we are known. They will exchange best practices, partner on deals, and drive more of their capital
to mission. All types of mission investors – from beginner to experienced foundations, from those making MRIs out of their endowments to those using more concessionary PRIs – benefit from our diverse initiatives.

Our slate for 2017 includes:

  • Mission Investing Institutes with enhanced curriculum for new and advanced practitioners
  • Executive Exchanges for trustees, CEOs, and other foundation leaders
  • Working groups for sharing and collaborating on the latest deal flow
  • A new members-only Community Portal with detailed member profiles
  • Cutting-edge research and thought leadership, including our 11-week Mission Possible series running in Stanford Social Innovation Review
  • An upgraded website with members-only content, including new and improved tools and resources
  • Just-in-time webinar series and communications
  • We are even making longer term plans for an impact investing innovation laboratory – but more on that later!

Our strategic planning process has set an ambitious near and long term agenda, and in 2017 we are building our internal capacity to support and catalyze your work. To help us engage our members in an even more dynamic network of learning and innovation, I am pleased to introduce Nhadine Leung as Managing Director. Nhadine joins us from the Girl Scouts of the USA, where she led the redesign of the national organization and the development of the network’s national strategy. You can read more about her background below.

As the leading network of foundations engaged in impact investing, Mission Investors Exchange is the place to begin, deepen, or further your mission investing work. Wherever you are in the impact investing landscape, I hope that you will join us.
