Dear Friend,
I hope it has been a fruitful summer for you. At IIX, our Impact Partners has been busy providing technical assistance to a number of Social Enterprises (SEs) around Asia, helping them prepare to raise investment. I would like to introduce you to two of these organizations now, as they are ready to raise investment and grow to their full potential. We will be hosting a webinar with both SEs on 28th August for interested investors to learn more about these opportunities.
Bali Recycling is based in Indonesia and is one of the first organizations to carry out recycling and upcycling in Bali. It collects waste from households, hotels and restaurants, and sells recycled and upcycled products in the local and international market. Bali faces formidable problems with waste disposal, with a significant proportion of household and commercial waste dumped into rivers and other illegal sites. Bali Recycling is playing a small yet crucial role in changing this and has ample demand for its products and services. To meet this demand it is looking for US$100,000 to invest in equipment to expand its up-cycling services and to increase its collections capacity.
Blue Impact Capital (BIC), based in Malaysia, is another organization trying to reduce waste and combat environmental degradation. It uses a very different method: it grows mushrooms using coffee waste as opposed to the traditional method, which uses sawdust. Every ton of mushrooms produced with this method avoids the need to cut down 4 tons of trees. BIC uses coffee waste from a local factory, and has tested and refined its product over the last 2 years. With more demand for its mushrooms than it can meet, BIC is raising US$350,000 to increase its capacity and buy new machinery to improve efficiency. A European fund is currently in due diligence, with the aim of investing US$200,000, but would like Asian investors to be part of the mix.
If you would like to know more about either of these organizations, we have organised a webinar on 28th August at 9.30am and 5pm SGT. The webinar is open only to Accredited investors and Impact Partners members. Once you register here, we will send you the webinar details.
Kind regards
