We are looking for trustees! Could this be you?

Dear <<First Name>>,

Do you want to take action to support refugees?

Do you want to work alongside refugees living locally to help make Bristol a place of sanctuary?

Bristol Hospitality Network (BHN) is looking for dedicated people to join our board of Trustees. Over seven years we have become a vibrant community of people from many nations.

We currently have a number of vacancies on our volunteer board. This group is responsible for overseeing the work of BHN as a charity, to ensure that it is delivering its objectives.

BHN is looking for Trustees with a broad range of skills, including people with financial, fundraising, charity management and/or refugee expertise.

We would love to hear from you if you are interested. For an informal chat about the role, don’t hesitate to contact Steve on steve@bhn.org.uk

The Trustees meet every 6 weeks in Bristol (7-9pm). This role is unpaid, but as well as finding it rewarding, there’s also often great food!

Thank you for joining us at our Annual Feast!

We had a fantastic time and were so excited to see many people at the event. Thank you to everyone who volunteered on the day, particularly to those in the photo who produced that amazing meal. Also we could like to thank Coexist, who run Hamilton House, for letting us use their event space.

Bristol Rally Against Racism

There has been an increase in racist language and attacks in the recent year, both in Bristol and in the UK. Reported racist hate crimes have increased and many mainstream politicians and the media are becoming comfortable with using language which blames migrants and refugees for economic problems and social dislocation. This rally, called by Bristol Stand Up To Racism, will explore ways forward to confront this creeping racism.

Speakers include:
Marvin Rees (Mayor of Bristol), Dr Edie Friedman (Jewish Council for Racial Equality), Zac Cochrane (National Officer SUTR), Marianne Owens (PCS union National Executive member), Fuad Mahamed (Founder and CEO Ashley Housing association), Kamal Mohamed (Sudanese refugee and Postgraduate student at Bristol University), Saidagul Maroofkail (Afghanistani refugee)

All welcome. More info here.
