Great news! Victoria is coming out of lockdown at 11:59pm tonight Thursday, 21st October in Metropolitan Victoria.

Students can return to face-to-face classes on Wednesday, 3rd November, but there are some restrictions...

MCIE staff will start returning to campus from Monday, 25th October in preparation for our students return.

Do I still study from home?

IF YOU CAN STUDY FROM HOME, WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO and continue your lessons online via TEAMS until further notice
DURING VIRTUAL CLASSES, YOUR TRAINERS MAY ASK YOU TO COME TO CAMPUS if required for any assessment or training purposes
IF YOU ARE WANTING TO COME TO CAMPUS FOR CLASS please inform your Trainer beforehand to avoid overcrowding
IF YOU CAN'T STUDY FROM HOME, YOU CAN COME TO SCHOOL for your classes
PRACTICAL COOKERY CLASSES STUDENTS MUST come to campus all timetabled days

If you come to campus for study:

You MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED to attend MCIE campus and training kitchens
When you arrive at school, you MUST check in using the QR code placed around our campuses (in the lift foyer, at reception, in your classroom and on the communications board)
You MUST always wear a mask inside
You MUST keep a distance of 1.5m outside of the classroom
MCIE support staff will be back on campus to help you
All trainers will return to campus

Conditions of entry into the campus:

Once Victoria reaches 80 per cent fully vaccinated, all students will be required to be fully vaccinated to attend MCIE campus and training kitchens.

It remains compulsory for all staff and students to wear a face mask on MCIE campus and training kitchens. Trainers must wear a mask to, and on, campus. However, teachers and trainers are excused from wearing a mask when delivering lessons. It is strictly a ‘No Mask No Entry!’ policy.

All MCIE staff have had the double dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

You cannot enter MCIE campus or training kitchens if you:

are NOT fully vaccinated
are NOT wearing a mask
are currently NOT feeling well (you have a cough, cold or flu-like symptoms)
are ‘suspected’ of or ‘confirmed’ as having COVID-19
have been in close contact with a person who is suspected of having COVID-19, within the last two weeks

If any of the above apply to you, go home and observe the prescribed self-isolation measures.

MCIE and Explore English have a COVID Safe Plan to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff on campus.

COVID-Safe practices on campus

MCIE and Explore English have implemented a number of prevention strategies:

temperatures are checked on arrival before entering the training kitchens
face masks must be worn at all times (we have been advised that our trainers/teachers may choose not to wear a mask for ease of communication while teaching)
hand sanitiser is available at reception and in all classrooms
posters for correct hand-hygiene practices are displayed around campus
during opening hours, the doors on campus will remain open to minimise human contact with door handles and
building management continue with the increased cleaning of lift call points, handrails and doors etc, and
specific guidelines for training kitchen practical classes will be issued later this week

We have also established a Response Plan in the event that anyone presents with symptoms of COVID-19.
