Dearest Lydia Place Village,
Happy New Year from our home to yours.
We were simply in AWE of our community's generosity this holiday season, and throughout this past year.

From Childlife Montessori's Diaper Drive, The Newcomers Toy Drive, Lettered Street Coffeehouse's Giving Tree, 3 OMS Gratitude Corner, Love to Move StudioZ Stocking Program, Caliber Home Loans - Pysden TeamBramble Berry Soap Making + T-Mobile adopting over 10 Adopt-A-Family Lists a piece, Carmichael Clark, P.S.'s Holiday Match Program, general gifts, hours of volunteer support, and countless other drives and donations - we are in awe.

Reflecting on all that we accomplished in 2016, we are reminded of all the work that lies ahead this year.

Though there are many more children and their families that are in need of services and support, we know our mission is clear.  With you by our side, we will ensure every family has the home and support they so greatly deserve.

This (belated) New Year's update has good vibration news, recaps, and our upcoming gala information. These are all ways we can stay engaged, connected, and in heart with one another.

Happy New Year to you and yours.
We look forward to seeing you, and working together to end homelessness in Whatcom County in the coming months and year.

Here is some good neighbor news to start your week off on the right foot!
We want to give a BIG shout out to MOD Pizza Barkley Square. Not only did they donate 100% of pizza sales on their opening day to Lydia Place, Zach and the team also selected Lydia Place as their Community Partner for their Week of MOD-ness, donating $1 from every MOD pizza sold the week of Thanksgiving.
To put the topping on the pizza, they wanted to additionally recognize our team for the hard work they do each day to provide hope and housing to many local families, and invited the entire Lydia Place team for a FREE LUNCH.
That's 26 humans worth of pizza!! Thank you MOD Pizza for using your ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE to encourage and support our community! We're so glad you're in town!
Thank you to Mary Kay, Carmen, and the entire team at Whatcom County Association of Realtors (WCAR) for selecting Lydia Place as the recipient of their Induction Ceremony raffle. We were on-hand for the evening of festivities at the Silver Reef, and saw the incredible power and community that is possible through this dedicated team. Housing is a complex issue, and it takes all of us together, to ensure that every family has a home. The realtor community of Whatcom County has been an integral partner to Lydia Place as we seek to find landlords and partners within our county who will give family and individuals an opportunity or second-chance. Thank you, WCAR! And congratulations to all the winners and new officers!

A year-long energy project at our new campus Baker Place is now complete! Thanks to our solar energizing partners Western Solar, itek Energy, Aslan Brewery, and David Bradley Engineering, we now have an incredible solar array on our property that generates enough energy to support our entire building, and will save our organization roughly $50,000 in energy savings over the next 25 years.
#SPNFamilyValues Update
We got Supernatural this holiday!
We are incredibly grateful to Misha Collins, The Collins Family, and the #SPNFamily for their support of our programs and families.
Their generosity helped to do a number of love inspired acts throughout our organization, like fill gaps in our Adopt-A-Family Wish List Program, and ensured that over 250 children had gifts this holiday. In addition they helped to furnish several bedrooms and common areas at our new housing campus, Bell Tower, for women experiencing trauma and domestic violence, and are continuing to help us provide programs and services that support over 300 families each year. Thank you Misha, thank you #SPNFAmilyValues, and thank you Bellingham and beyond for ensuring our kids had a bright and special holiday.
This month we presented the January Chamber Breakfast, along with our presenting sponsor for Hearts for Housing, Innovations for Quality Living. It was an honor to share our mission, vision and invite the Chamber/business community to our event. Thank you to our MC Shannon Day, our Chamber friends Silvia, Guy, Shelli, and everyone that attended this early morning breakfast (NOW WITH BACON!).
From assisting with large-scale events like Hearts for Housing set-up and clean-up, to painting, moving support, and client support, we have an opportunity for you! Visit our internal Lydia Place website to learn more and apply, or visit The Volunteer Center of Whatcom County for a list of current needs. You have a place at Lydia Place!
