On June 17th, IFM celebrated a successful fundraiser campaign to install solar power.  IFM is thrilled to announce that solar power was installed in June!

Solar will significantly reduce IFM’s energy bill.  The money IFM will save will allow us to take our nutritional goals even further by buying more healthy proteins - such as ground turkey and chicken - on a consistent basis, and by providing other avenues for nutrition education.

Owens Estate & Wealth Strategies Group’s  knowledge and talent in confidential documents created a highly successful Community Shred Day fundraiser for IFM.   On Saturday, May 22nd, Owen’s rented an industrial shredding truck to support the document security needs of Grass Valley residents and to help those struggling with hunger.  From 8:00 am to 12:30 pm, for a donation of $10.00 per banker’s box, Owen’s employees and IFM volunteers gave their time unloading boxes from cars and pouring paper into shredding bins.  By 12:30 pm the truck held just over 13,000 pounds of shredded documents! All proceeds from Owen’s 3rd annual Community Shred Day, a record $4,361.00, were presented to Interfaith Food Ministry to help feed  those in need. A huge thank you to our wonderful Grass Valley community for supporting this year’s Shred Day.

On Tuesday, May 17th, IFM celebrated the dedication and service of its 450 volunteers at Peace Lutheran Church. Delicious sandwiches and salads, ice breaker games, a Nutrition Presentation, and awards made IFM’s annual Volunteer Luncheon a lively event!   On behalf of the IFM Board, Sue Van Son presented certificates to Keith Badger, Ray Moore. Connie Mattis. Nancy Koring, and Del Mack for outstanding commitment to the needs of clients and fellow volunteers.  A huge thank you goes to Judie St. John and Jim Schroeder for organizing this fun event of friendship and service.

If you are interested in any of the above volunteer opportunities either go to or see Sue Van Son.
