UDC receives $400,000 for research and study to improve the efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cells

UDC is among seven Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) selected by the Department of Energy (DOE) for a solar research funding pilot program. DOE is working in collaboration with the MSI STEM Research and Development Consortium (MSDRC) in awarding $3.2 million for eight projects at seven MSIs through the Science and Technology Research Partnership program.  Read More

Growing what you eat has always fascinated Michael Bunn. As a boy, he watched his aunt transform a D.C. garden into a food oasis. Bunn and his sister, Kyra Moore, set out to expand their options by growing their fruit and vegetables after completing the D.C. Master Gardener Volunteer Training Program at the UDC Community College.  Read More

Student Produce Pantry
Fresh produce pantry open this summer for all enrolled UDC students

The free student produce pantry is open until August 13, 2022, at the UDC Van Ness campus, 4250 Connecticut Ave, second floor, room 2414. Exclusively for students, the services will be available while supplies last, and food items will vary each week. Please bring a reusable bag for your items. For more information, please click here.

Three UDC students chosen for Apple’s Engineering & Innovation Program
Three UDC students chosen for Apple’s Engineering & Innovation Program

Thurgood Marshall College Fund and Apple announced the 43 scholars selected for the inaugural class of Apple’s Engineering & Innovation (E&I) Program. Among those chosen are three UDC students: Jamelia Ancel, a junior biomedical engineering major; Matthew Brown, a senior mechanical engineering major; and Jermel Watson, a senior computer science major. The Apple E&I Scholars were selected from applicants from engineering programs at America’s publicly-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Predominantly Black Institutions. The program includes an immersive experience at Apple, where students will engage in technical learning opportunities and participate in sessions led by Apple executives and industry leaders. Apple E&I scholars will also have opportunities to secure internships and full-time employment after graduation.
