Dear Partners, Associates and friends of GRLI

In keeping with Philippe's words the GRLI community remains committed to entrepreneurial learning processes where leaders and practitioners work with difficult questions and deal with the consequences of their choices.

This was again demonstrated in Portugal during November through an interconnected trio of gatherings: the 4th meeting of the Deans & Directors Cohort hosted by Católica Porto Business School, participation in the GBSN Annual Conference and our annual AGM "All Gathering Momentum" meeting at ISCTE Business School.

Our partners at ISCTE Business School brings a unique integrative approach to Quality and Sustainability capabilities and the discussion at our AGM centered around the evolving role of GRLI in an educational landscape and global context increasingly marked by environmental and social disconnect and divide.

Partners and Associates are invited to join us in late January for a 2-hour Zoom meeting where we will consider progress on the questions that emerged from our November AGM and consider our theory of change for future work. Please RSVP to receive the call details.

We'd also like to welcome this month new Associate Partner school CalPolyPomona College of Business and our newest Independent Associate John Knights.

EFMD invites you to help See the Future of business education through their online survey. Results will be shared at the February 2020 EFMD Deans Conference.

Finally I invite you to read a guest contribution on our blog from Ross Hall on weaving learning ecosystems for universal wellbeing.

I look forward to working closely with our Partners and Associates and Friends in 2020 to provoke and explore essential questions that represent the emerging spirit and need of our time and to which there are currently no easy answers. We will circulate the year-end reflection from our Chair early next week and then close the office until 6 January.

Regenerative Management Education: The 5th Deans & Directors Cohort

We're pleased to announce that the 5th GRLI Deans & Directors Cohort will be held 28 April to 1 May 2020 in Denver, Colorado with the theme "Regenerative Management Education".

Co-hosted by the Leeds School of Business – University of Colorado and Babson College, the Cohort will convene immediately following the AACSB International Conference and Annual Meeting.

Quality & Sustainability goes hand-in-hand

Our hosts for the GRLI AGM, ISCTE-IUL Business School, have a noteworthy collaboration success in how the institution embeds sustainability into the university’s established Quality Assurance program.

As an antidote to how sustainability can be seen as a “nice to have” or a “sidecar” to core priorities, the ISCTE team is demonstrating how sustainability — in all its components — can be systematically, reliably, and consistently assessed.

Thanks to ISCTE researchers and professors Catarina Roseta-Palma (Sustainability Director of ISCTE-IUL) and Ana Margarida Simaens (Quality and Sustainability Interlocutor for the Business School) for sharing the story with us.

Welcome to GRLI's Newest Associate Partner

We extend a warm welcome to GRLI's new Associate Partner, the College of Business Administration at Cal Poly Pomona in California, United States.

The College of Business Administration at Cal Poly Pomona is an AACSB International accredited institution committed to providing students with the knowledge, skills and experiences to become global leaders.

Asbjorn Egir, Adjunct Faculty/Director Operations and Erik Rolland, Dean of the College of Business Administration, note on their application that the campus is a polytechnic campus where learning by doing is what they do every day. “Sustainability for us is social, environmental and global. We have faculty performing research in all these areas. We hope GRLI can serve as the arena where the bridging of research and practice takes place.”
