The President’s New Management Agenda: Data is a Key Driver of Government Reform. This week the White House endorsed a data-centric approach to modernizing and restoring trust in government. For data companies and data transparency, the newly-unveiled President’s Management Agenda (PMA) does not disappoint.

With the PMA, the White House is putting data and data standards at the center of federal management. This matches our Coalition’s prior recommendations, and is good news for data companies and data transparency.
White House Announces Plan for Government-Wide Grants Data. Last Tuesday, as part of the long-awaited release of the President’s Management Agenda, the White House announced fourteen new government-wide goals. Goal number 8 of these is “Results Oriented Accountability for Grants.”

Rep. Will Hurd: Making modernization possible. The first time Rep. Will Hurd (R-Texas) realized the depth of the federal government’s IT problems was shortly after he arrived on Capitol Hill in 2015. He was being briefed by staffers from the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s IT Subcommittee in advance of a hearing on the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act of 2014. [FCW]

Congressional Research Service (CRS) Reports To Become Publicly Available.The Library of Congress will begin publishing Congressional Research Service (CRS) reports online within 90 days of enactment of the Omnibus, which passed the House this afternoon. The non-confidential non-partisan reports, issued by Congress’s think tank, provide an even-handed discussion of topical policy matters being considered by legislators. This will apply to approximately 3,000 reports annually. [Demand Progress]

IFRS Foundation and SEC update XBRL taxonomy for 2018. The International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation has released a new IFRS Taxonomy for 2018, containing a number of updates since last year, while the Securities and Exchange Commission also updated its taxonomy. [AccountingToday]

Kelly taps Kushner ally Chris Liddell as deputy chief for policy. White House chief of staff John Kelly has tapped Chris Liddell, a senior White House aide and former executive at Microsoft and General Motors, as his deputy. [POLITICO]
