Festival Spirit Award - Wonder
David Allison for This is Your Trial said: “Wow. I’m thrilled. Thank you all so much. We had such a great time anyway and that was enough reward but to get a prize…. I am very very happy… thank you most sincerely.”
Xnthony, bespangled Eurovision star of Douze, said: “I cannot tell you how thrilled I am, and the team! How unexpected and soooo exciting. I want to shout it from the rooftops.”
Pretend Man, creators of Police Cops said: “Thank you so much for the Award. It means a lot to us. Thank you also for the great festival. It was amazing to be part of it.”
Phil Hetherington, Chief Executive of Creative Youth, the charity which delivers IYAF, said: “This has been a very special IYAF with over 200 events delivered by over 70 companies. While it was a hard job picking winners, it was an enjoyable one because the standard of the productions was so high and the shows so rich in talent."
Andy Currums IYAF Festival Director said: "I am particularly thrilled that Police Cops, which won the our award for Best Comedy at Brighton Fringe has won again in Kingston. IYAF has a very special relationship with Brighton Fringe, and Police Cops made everyone who saw it weep with laughter at both festivals! Douze we knew was a highlight, right from Xnthony’s first appearance at the opening night Raise the Roof. This is Your Trial engaged, entertained and educated us all, adults and children, in the British legal system (they actually tried and found Phil guilty!) and Wonder - its topic of facial deformity and discussion of ‘what is normal’ - simply stunned everyone who saw it, read about it, talked about the work.
"Thank you to everyone who took part in this year's fantatstic IYAF We look forward to seeing you in 2017."
