Linda Talley (B.S.’88/N) receives inaugural Paul A. and Veronica H. Gross award

Linda TalleyCongratulations to Linda Talley, RN, NE-BC (B.S.’88/N), recipient of the inaugural Paul A. and Veronica H. Gross Achievement in Nursing Award, established to recognize leadership in the field. Talley is vice president of nursing and chief nursing officer at Children’s National Hospital based in Washington, D.C., where she oversees nursing and is responsible for advancing nursing practice and research. She has written for numerous publications and presented nationally on nursing quality, safety and workforce outcomes. A 2019 American Academy of Nursing Fellow, she serves on a multitude of councils and committees including the ACGME health administration advisory group and the Children’s Hospital Association Annual Leadership Conference member advisory committee.

Meet the new associate dean for research, scholarship and innovation

Amy L. SalisburyAmy L. Salisbury, Ph.D., RN, PMH-CNS, BC, a leading nurse scientist and clinician, started as associate dean of research, scholarship, and innovation in August. Salisbury has contributed significantly to teaching, research and clinical nursing for more than 20 years. She comes to VCU from Alpert Medical School at Brown University, where she served as an associate professor and worked as a clinical nurse specialist at Women & Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. Her research and clinical interests include neurobehavioral development, fetal and infant development, sleep development and disorders, perinatal and infant mental health, prenatal exposures, autism, and child psychopathology. VCU names new senior vice president and CEO of VCU Health System

Arthur L. KellermannArthur L. Kellermann, M.D., will join Virginia Commonwealth University on Oct. 1 as senior vice president for health sciences at VCU and CEO of VCU Health System. Kellermann comes to VCU from the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, where he was dean for seven years. The university is the leadership academy for military health and the U.S. Public Health Service. Read more.

Join Suzanne Ameringer, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, past interim assistant dean for research, scholarship, and innovation, and Amy Salisbury, Ph.D., RN, PMH-CNS, BC, new associate dean for research, scholarship, and innovation, for an online update on the SON research office. Quality Forum Session III

Join session three of the Langston Center for Innovation in Quality and Safety’s 2020 Quality Forum. The topic is “Social and Behavioral Science Influences in Adherence Behaviors of Health Care Workers and the General Public: A Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic” and features keynote speaker Jay Van Bavel, Ph.D., associate professor psychology and neural science at New York University. He is also an affiliate at the Stern School of Business in Management and Organizations and director of the Social Identity and Morality Lab. From neurons to social networks, his research examines how collective concerns — group identities, moral values and political beliefs — shape the mind and brain. Learn more and register.
