A new 400-square-foot outdoor screen
at VCU’s James Branch Cabell Library intrigues, inspires and informs the tens of thousands of VCU community members who pass by daily. The screen, which overlooks the Compass, stands 21 feet wide by 24 feet tall and showcases art, animation, video and information about scholarly work from throughout the VCU community. Cabell Library’s vitrine (or “Big Screen” as it’s called) was installed as part of the library’s $50.8 million expansion and renovation. Upcoming exhibits include a faculty show by Sonya Clark, chair of the Department of Craft and Material Studies in the School of the Arts; an exhibit by artist Matt Lively
(B.F.A.’93/A); and an open showcase of student work. Would you like to see your work featured on the Cabell Big Screen? Submit your images, art or other creative scholarship to VCU Libraries.
