Engineering: Oscar L. Martin Jr. is 2013 Alumni Star
When he was named one of Style Weekly’s “Top 40 Under 40” in 2012, Oscar L. Martin Jr. (Ph.D.’10/En) said he always wanted to be a college professor. It just took a little while to find a way to fit teaching into his life and job at DuPont Teijin Films, where he leads an organization that develops innovative film products for companies such as 3M Co., Sara Lee Corp. and H.J. Business: Student advances in national Walmart competition
Growing up in Chesapeake, Va., Olugbenga “Tumi” Oredein wanted to draw all the time. He also collected silicone wristbands that shot to popularity at the height of Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong campaign, a support group for people with cancer. He put those two interests together in Skribs, customizable wristbands that he created. Read more.
VCU Libraries: New building on fast track
Recently, the VCU Libraries community tangibly heard and felt our near future: The rat-a-tat-tat of jackhammers at dawn. A crew was exploring how the concrete aggregate panels are attached to Cabell Library in order to finalize construction specs for the new library on the Monroe Park Campus. Read more.
