We are excited to begin this new year by opening ticketing for AYS's first four Spring 2017 Concerts. We are also looking forward to an in-home fundraising event on February 12 (in addition to the two concerts on that day) featuring award-winning superstars Leonidas Kavakos and Yuja Wang!

AYS presents its annual family concert: “Music & Story.” This free concert will feature clips from Disney’s iconic Fantasia, with sights and sounds to dazzle first-time listeners and classical music aficionados alike. This concert also offers a taste of what’s to come at the 4:30pm “Game Changer” concert, with a selection from Takeshi Furukawa’s critically acclaimed score for the newly-released hit video game The Last Guardian. For little ones who need a break during the performance, face-painting and activities led by the Amazing Kid Company will be offered in the lobby before, during, and after the 45 minute performance.

We commemorate our annual gala with a joyous celebration of classic masterworks and rising talent. Concerto Competition winner Rachel Ostler joins the orchestra for Korngold’s virtuosic Violin Concerto, in an evening also featuring the spirited Overture from Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, and Rachmaninoff’s beloved Symphonic Dances.

Support the American Youth Symphony by joining us for this thrilling event, featuring two of the most popular and highly acclaimed artists on the classical scene. Yuja Wang, named Artist of the Year by Musical America in 2017, and Leonidas Kavakos, 2017's winner of the Léonie Sonning Music Prize (Denmark's highest musical honor). This recital will also feature a performance by former AYS Concertmaster Nigel Armstrong.

We end this season with a concert to thank our donors for all they do in support of AYS. In a concert unlike anything we have done before, a chamber ensemble of AYS musicians will play the full ballet version of Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring, in collaboration with dancers from ArtistsPlus Productions. This performance also includes works by visionary French baroque composer Jean-Philippe Rameau. Celebrate Mother’s Day with an afternoon of music from the American Youth Symphony!
