On Saturday, March 11th at 2pm, the American Youth Symphony performs with composer and electric guitar icon Steve Vai, as part of the Los Angeles Philharmonic's Sounds About Town series. 

Vai, a three-time Grammy winner and rock-n-roll legend, is the first artist of his kind to partner with AYS, for what is sure to be an amazing and unforgettable performance.

Announcing 2017 Concerto Competition Winner, Aubree Oliverson


We are excited to announce the winner of our 2017 Concerto Competition, Aubree Oliverson. Aubree is currently in her first year at the Colburn Conservatory, studying with renowned pedagogue Robert Lipsett. 2016/17 also marks Aubree's first year with the American Youth Symphony. Look for details on the date and programming of her solo performance to be released this summer.

This Weekend AYS Musicians perform at LACO Concerts

Musicians from the American Youth Symphony will perform Haydn's Quartet Op. 76 #5 as part of a pre-concert program at LACO events on Saturday 2/25 (Alex Theater, pre-concert performance at 7pm) and Sunday 2/26 (Royce Hall, pre-concert performance at 6pm). The quartet will feature: Gallia Kastner, Natalie Yu, Laura Jesson, and Peter Eom.

We end this season with a concert to thank our donors for all they do in support of AYS. In a concert unlike anything we have done before, a chamber ensemble of AYS musicians will play the full ballet version of Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring, in collaboration with dancers from ArtistsPlus Productions. This performance also includes works by visionary French baroque composer Jean-Philippe Rameau. Celebrate Mother’s Day with an afternoon of music from the American Youth Symphony!
